An early 19h Century, c1825, Silver filigree whist box with bespoke MOP Counters.
This delicate work was generally not marked due to it being to delicate for stamping.
The decoration is particularly fine: it is pierced throughout, with elongated, leaf/petal-shaped panels radiating from the centre, each filled with scrolling foliage and floral engraving. The outer border is comparatively plain, which sets off the openwork decoration.
The box has a diameter of 25mm.
The wist counters are quite lovely. They are Mother of Pearl, one side being initialed and the other being finely engraved with appropiate symbols for the four suits.
