The box dates from mid 19th century and was probably made in France for the export market.
The complete unit is carved from one piece of Mother of Pearl with a carved out sarcophagus to house the counters. There is a sliding, functional, lid.
The counters are hand painted with decorative suited Queen on a green foreground.
Good condition throughout – picture will show the inevitable minor blemishes in such an article.
