Similar to the game described by Whitehouse as “The Railway Game” (from cover)

This game also starts with Adam and Eve and ends with a railway train.

Photocopy of reproduction booklet which give an insight into the people and attitudes of the period.

C1807 Game of the Jew – By ?E Wallis and John Harris

Not the same as the one pictured in Whitehouse
as in that version the numbers 3 and 9 reversed and 12 replaced by the rules

Also small differences to picture – possibly an later version as rules tended to be published separately after about 1808

Or possibly an earlier prototype before rules clearly developed.

Game listed in J Harris catalogue believed to be 1808

Condition – Playing Sheet – overall good condition – Slight foxing on the numbers
Couple of corners have a sight paper lifting from backing – approx 1 cms
Colors very bright and vibrant

No slip case

Condition – Slipcase missing – Rules on Sheet – Playing Sheet is in good condition – undamaged but with a stain on part of the rules and a little light foxing, engrave and hand colored – very interesting early educational game.

Not a circular trail but 55 hand events of interest including a hanging, the murder of Thomas a Becket and Ann Boleyn being beheaded – Ending in 1829

“the winner “to proceed to the publisher’s to purchase another game”

Interesting pictures at corners as well

Condition – Slipcase – very good but case is a later replacement with original label

Playing Sheet v good hand colored – odd small marks – no damage

Explanation booklet strong well bound – some handwriting on outside – including the name “Susan Passmore“ !!
